Sep. 1st, 2019 08:47 amIt's been a while since I've used this blog. For a while, I just wasn't sure what to write. Topics aren't exactly my thing. I've always been the type to just write raw, organic, things onto a page and see where it goes. Stream of Consciousness, I guess you could say.
I was working on my personal blog, and realized I should take a similar approach to my writing/creative blog that I do over there. Here's how it goes. I log every day. Every. Day. For better or worse, boring or not boring, and just put it all down for documentation/processing.
I'm going to do the same thing here, only focusing solely on writing related things. Most of it will probably have to do with the creative process.
With that introduction out of the way, here is day one.
I chose September 1st for a reason. This wasn't a coincidence, or because it was the first of a new month, and I just HAD to start on the first of a new month otherwise it'd drive me bonkers. I mean, that was part of it, but it ended up being a perfect fit, because September 1st is what I like to think of as my Writing New Year.
September is when the kids go back to school, the fall energy restores the creativity that got sucked away by the summer sun and constant activities. Everything feels calm. It's a very strange and unique time of year for me, and it felt fitting.
So Happy Writing New Year!
This week my writing goals are going to be primarily focused on catching up and establishing new, more productive habits. Things like not napping in the afternoon and reading a book instead, and making sure I use my timers to stay focused on writing rather than browsing through the black hole of Facebook. I'm also going to work on having more effective marketing skills. These are all things needed to be a successful writer...and then some.
I can't talk about the projects that I'm working on catching up on because it is outside work, but when I get to working on my own things NEXT week, I'll start diving more into my creative processes, etc.
